                                        Reflection on Writing


            Firstly, after starting my study at laguardia college, I have learned lot of valuable tricks to improve  my writing skills, as well as reading too. I have learned some of the skills such as annotating, summarizing, thesis-based writing and paragraphing. To be honest one of the best skill to understand and summarize a passage or article is annotating. However I have to read an article again and again but it will help me to underline important ideas that it might be helpful on my summarize.Also making circle in unknown words, to look for those words later on, so I could understand better what the writer is trying to indicate me.

Secondly,with the help of annotating I have learned how to summarize any article. Summarizing is the second skill that I have learned  in this class. Now I can point the main ideas of the reading, such as information of the story and author point of view. So making good summary with the help of annotation that make me feel more clear about any article.

Thirdly, thesis-Base writing skill is based on the Introduction and the thesis statement. As we know  this will help me to write an clean and well organized essay based on an article. The thesis-statement is an outline from the starting to end, an outline that I must start by a indivisual topic, and a list of reasons.So, I could start doing paragraphing according to it. Paragraphing is one of the skill that I am learning to improve in my writing. It is the prof of the most important idea, reasons to support all claim as well as idea, unity and logical connection at the same time.

Finally, I can say I am not best at essay but I am improving myself so far that I can be better. I have one strong prove, that is , in blog entry number six I believe I have wrote well eassy compare to others. However, it is clear that by applying these skills I could make a well and organize essay. On the other hand, one  thing that is difficult to me that is, when I start summarising to make first sentence of any story, I feel confuse that what should I writte. Beside that as long as I start writing I think I am good to write.  So far I am feel  strong on passing the CATW. From now I am trying to practice and focus more in the class so I could earn my more confidence to start writing without fear.

                                      I know the Truth

 

Humans have long been foolishness, easily tricked by rumors and beleive lies. This weakness has been on full display recently a research accomplished at Ohio state University conducted a study to determine how sticky such false beliefs are and what it takes to free people from believing them. when people try to take time for learning the facts, the effort they do is not even close to good.

           Firstly, If we talk about the facts we know what to do and where to go but as we can  see some people believe their own religion and do totally different thing what even their religion don’t tell them to do so.Religion says don’t lie but people are lying too many times .On the other hand according to Hinduism there is a rule called “sati dhaha” it says if husband died wife should should die too and they killed the wife and burn the wife with her husband. So as we can see people are following it blindly.

           Secondly, in the new study, two professor named R. Kelly Garret and Erik Nisbet from ohio state university, recruited 750 people who reported being familier with and believing at lest one of the rumors about the proposed Islamic center. They then set about to determine whether exposure to the facts of the case would change their opinions and if so, how best those facts should be presented. While Garret and Nisbet were disturbed by how easy it is to manipulate people thought with insinuating pictures or inflammatory quotes.

            Thirdly, when people do take time to learn the facts, the effort often does no good. However, people love to believe blindly even though they know what is good and what is wrong. But they don’t want to use their brain and they feel comfort to follow what path religion is showing them even though its good or bad they don’t want to judge it. That’s how human made off.

             Finally, we may not always agree on what those facts but at a minimum we need to agree that they mean more than fantasy. No matter what the scans and other studies reveal, of course, it is up to us to find a place in a world of facts and make our decisions based on that information. At least if we hope to get anything accomplished.

        I know the truth, so don't bother me with facts

 

(1)  “Humans have long been dupes, easily deceived by rumors and flat-out lines”.

(2)   I agree with Jeffrey Kluger when he states that “when people try to take time for learning the facts, the effort they do is not even close to good.”

In the class after thinking and discussing  Significant Idea, Claim, Reasons and Thesis

Statement I have learned how I can talk about the fact of any article and also what is this

article pointing about.

With my group I have learned Every paragraph write about single idea.Also its talk about

the main idea.

I have learned, from article's example, I get suppoting details and that can be reasons.

When we write Thesis it helps people how to get opinion.Its also tell readers how to  talk

about this opinion.So it is sure that writing thesis can make us better writter.

                                   My Place in the Cave

According to “The allegory to the cave” it is stated that if we think a group of prisoners chained since birth and the prisoners are unable to move their heads their life could be full of darkness. In the prison they can’t move their heads and they hear the reflection of sounds and all they see are shadows. However, the sounds and shadows are made by people walking on a rising walkway close to the wall. They believe that the sound reflection and shadows to be real. Moreover, one of the prisoners is set to be free. Gradually, his sight adjusts. He leaves the cave. He gradually becomes accustomed to the sights of the world outside the cave. He decides to go back to the cave. His ability to predict the shadows is finished. The prisoners mimic him and threaten to kill him.

According to the comparison with Socrates I think the stage I have I can see only my shadow or the shadows of one another which the fire throws on the opposite wall of the cave. The stage I have that is bonded with chain of life. Sometime I feel so amazed when I saw the shadow of mine is following me. I try to walk into the light and try to find the meaning of my life I feel lost. the thing I can claim about that is sometimes I got trapped into nowhere and I couldn’t find the path that could help me rid of this. I don’t know what to do and where to go. Finally, I am planning to follow my destiny that is so obvious that I can’t ignore it.

Kluger end his  piece by explaining that we may not always agree on what those facts but at a minimum we need to agree that they mean more than fantasy.

                                          Annotating

After reading about annotation I have get annoting is a writting to learn which is skillful for reading and rereading that will help responding to a text and way of asking questions to our peer and teacher. Also doing  annotation with the class I have learned how to underline important ideas, how to block unfamiliar words so I can learn it from dictionary and meaning of double underlining main point of the article.

Now a days Google making our life so easier that we can't work a single job without it.however google doesn't want us to slow down.The faster we zip acroos the web, clicking links and skimming words and pictures, the more ads Google is able to show us and the more money it makes.The problem is if we distracted, we understand less, remember less, and learn less.I thing google is making us stupid. However,we should try ourselve without taking advantage from google and become more creative what we really are.  

After reading by annoting it I have learned how to read article. Now i can read with diffrent way using annotation.However,I have learned how to underline important ideas, how to block unfamiliar words so I can learn it from dictionary and meaning of double underlining main point of the article.

Annotating can make be better writter beacuse using annotating I can agree or disagree with the main ideas, I can link the reading to my own life experiences. Also I can describe new perspective which I have.

                                                   Hype

According to the passage it is talking about the negative side of advertisement. As we can see our mentality is getting polluted by advertisement. When we wake up in the morning alarm sounds, tv commercial and hours of late night tv programs etc. are polluting our brains at the rate of three thousand commercial massages every single day. If we pay attention we can see 12 billion display adds, 3 million radio commercials and almost 200,000 tv commercials are taking our North America's collective conscious.However, when we go for fill our car with gas we see an ad on the nozzle. Also when we go for cash out from the bank machine we see an add scrolls by in the little windows. Now our kids watch pepsi and snickers adds in the class room. As we can see there is no place for run. No one is free from an obligation and no one is spared.most of all the awfull truth is  we can't avoid watching advertisement which is hardly related in our general life.

In the passage the authors stated that "In the silent moment of my life I often used to hear beethoven's Ninth Symphony play in my head. Now i hear that kid singing the Oscar Meyer wiener song." I liked this part and I realized we can live in our own way. In my point of view its only mater due to how much we are addicted to advertisement and how much we make ourselve stay away from it.
